Trove is a trading name of Newmans of Rothwell Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17164590, whose registered office is at 10 Market Hill, Rothwell, Kettering, NN14 6EP (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the “data controller” responsible for your personal data.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration reference ZC257370.

2. The personal information we collect
We collect and process the following personal information:
- Order information — when you buy from us: your name, billing address, delivery address, email address and telephone number.
- Payment information — your card payment is processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details. Stripe processes your payment as a separate data controller under its own privacy policy.
- Part-exchange enquiries — if you ask us to value an item for part-exchange: your name and contact details, and the description and any photographs of the item you wish to trade.
- Enquiries and correspondence — if you contact us: your name, contact details and the content of your message.
- Marketing preferences — if you sign up to our newsletter: your email address and your consent.
- Technical and usage information — your IP address, browser and device type, and information about how you use our website, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see our separate Cookie Policy).
3. How we use your information and our legal bases
Under data protection law we must have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. The table below sets out what we use your information for and the basis we rely on.

4. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary, with:
- Stripe, our payment processor, to take card payments securely;
- our delivery and courier partners, to despatch and deliver your order;
- our website hosting, IT and email service providers;
- our professional advisers, such as our accountant, where reasonably required;
- the police, regulators or other authorities, where we are required to do so by law.
5. Transfers outside the UK
Some of our service providers may store or process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, we take steps to ensure your data is protected to the standard required by UK data protection law — for example by relying on adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy:
- order and transaction records are kept for six years, to meet our accounting and tax obligations;
- part-exchange and general enquiries are kept for 24 months where they do not lead to a transaction;
- marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop.
When we no longer need your personal data, we securely delete or anonymise it.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Access — to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- Rectification — to ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Erasure — to ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances;
- Restriction — to ask us to limit how we use your data;
- Portability — to ask us to transfer your data to another provider;
- Objection — to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time;
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent, to withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details above. We will respond within one month, and you will not usually have to pay a fee.
8. Marketing
We will only send you marketing emails if you have asked us to. Every marketing email contains an easy way to unsubscribe, and you can ask us to stop at any time by contacting us using the details above.

10. Keeping your information secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your personal data secure and to protect it against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe over a secure, encrypted connection, and we never see your full card details.
11. Children
Our website and services are intended for adults and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be published on our website, and we will show the date on which it was last updated.
